The first eight pieces center on “timeless silhouettes” translated through the lens of Ye and Balenciaga creative director Demna. Notably, they closely mirror Ye’s personal style as of late with models styled in his signature face coverings and pull-on boots.
The drop marks the debut of Yeezy Gap denim. A stonewash denim jacket embellished with distressing and moto-inspired padding on the back, shoulders and arms pairs with a straight-fit five-pocket jean.
The jacket is available in unisex sizes XS-XXL; jeans are available in sizes 24-38. The 100 percent cotton styles are made in the U.S. and retail for $220-$440.
The rest of the collection spans washed-black cotton logo hoodies, short-sleeve tees, long-sleeve tees and sweatpants. Oversized and slightly cropped fits add the streetwear edge which Balenciaga has heavily leaned into under Demna’s direction. Some pieces feature a “no-seam” construction. A dove motif seen throughout the line nods to an “unnamed hope for the future.”
Sizes XS-XXL are available now for pre-order on Yeezygap.com and Farfetch.com and retail for $140-$240.
The release follows Ye’s “Donda 2″ performance in Miami Tuesday night. The album’s merchandise includes Balenciaga-designed hoodies, tees and face masks.
Focused on utilitarian design, the Yeezy Gap Engineered by Balenciaga partnership is described as a “creative exploration” within the Yeezy Gap venture that launched in June 2020. More styles appear to be on the horizon. Other images provided by Gap Inc. include nylon outerwear, ponchos, jumpsuits and black denim.
